The speakers will look to Myanmar’s future as a country in which multicultural policies like those which are now the norm in Australia and Canada might help all the people, of all ethnicities contribute to the country’s economic, social and cultural growth together.

Sophia Htwe is an Australian Awards scholar currently pursuing a master’s degree in International Community Development at Victoria University, in Melbourne, Australia. Currently she is researching the role of Myanmar human rights civil society organizations in peacebuilding in the Rohingya conflict. She has worked many years in the community development projects which promote diversity and tolerance as well as leadership among education employees, civil society workers, university students, and religious leaders from diverse backgrounds across Myanmar.

Habib (aka) Aung Soe Naing is the Founder and Spokesperson for Australian Burmese Rohingya Organisation. He also works as a casual support services coordinator at RISE refugee organization, a country coordinator for Free Rohingya Coalition. He is a Co-author of “First They Erased Our Name”

Dr Michelle Aung Thin is a novelist and Senior Lecturer at RMIT University where she researches the ethics of cultural exchange, the contemporary experiences of Asian/Australians and Asian/Canadians and the cosmopolitanism communities of colonial Rangoon.
