Heartfelt condolences from Australia Myanmar Institute

AMI mourns the tragic killing of U Ko Ni, one of Myanmar’s most distinguished lawyers and human rights advocates. He was murdered at Yangon Airport on 29 January on his return from a visit to Indonesia with a government delegation. U Ko Ni was a tireless advocate for human rights in Myanmar and for its Muslim community. He has strong connections with Australia and recently met AMI’s Vice President Dr Raymond Tint Way and Board Member Prof Paul Komesaroff. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family here as well as in Myanmar and to the NLD and to all in the country who benefitted from his work. He will be sorely missed.
