Dr. Laxus is a medical doctor and health informatics specialist with extensive experience in bridging healthcare and technology. He holds a Master of Health Informatics with first-class honours from Auckland University of Technology, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Study. Currently, he is working as a researcher at a Medical Device Clinical Research Center of a University Hospital in Korea, contributing to systematic qualitative research, drafting ISO standards in medical device regulation, and publishing academic works. As Founder and Program Manager of the Telekyanmar Telemedicine Program, he has led one of Myanmar’s most impactful digital health initiatives, providing more than 220,000 online consultations and mobilizing hundreds of healthcare volunteers, including during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Laxus has also served at Myanmar’s Ministry of Health and Sports before 2021, where he played a key role in developing the national eHealth architecture blueprint and implementing COVID-19 data management systems used nationwide. His expertise spans telehealth, health information systems, data visualization, information security, and usage centered design. Passionate about leveraging technology for public health, he continues to contribute as a program manager and IT advisor for MOH-NUG, focusing on telemedicine, digital health innovation, and expanding access to care in underserved communities.
Dr. Nina has been serving in Telekyanmar since 2021. She was a former PhD graduate with teaching and research background in medical university before coup. After coup, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and shortage of health care in the country, she has joined one of the Telekyanmar COVID-19 telegram channels in 2021. When Telekyanmar telemedicine services were organized into general bookings and specialist clinics after the pandemic, she served as team leader in a general clinic. She has worked as team leader in the general clinic, primary mental health clinic and the Teletouring team throughout the years. Currently, she has been serving as team leader in general booking 5 clinic.
Dr. Nina is dedicated to Telemedicine, basic health care and quality health care through telemedicine to patients in need for both urban and rural conditions. She is participating in ongoing research activities in Telekyanmar, as well.
