Dr Tun Aung Shwe is the Representative of Myanmar’s National Unity Government in Australia, appointed on 19 July 2021. He is a graduate of University of Medicine (1) Yangon, University of Economics Yangon and University of New South Wales. He enjoyed the general practitioner life with local communities for 10 years in Kachin State, then moved to the non-profit, humanitarian sector, and worked for diverse projects and programs in Myanmar. He came to Australia for further study in public health and health management in 2008. Currently, he is undertaking Doctoral Studies at UNSW in the area of peace, conflict, and social cohesion.

Ma Thin Zar is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Policy and Governance, she possess long-standing experience in Myanmar’s humanitarian sector. As the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM), she led operations in humanitarian assistance, cross-border aid delivery, civilian protection, and community resilience. Prior to that, she served as Director of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, where she was responsible for international cooperation and coordination, ASEAN affairs, research, human resource development, and overall disaster management efforts.

Following the military coup on February 1, 2021, she joined the Civil Disobedience Movement, reflecting her commitment to justice and democratic values. Over the course of her career, she has contributed to emergency response missions for major crises, including Cyclone Nargis, Cyclone Giri, Tahlay earthquake, monsoon flash floods, and conflict-driven humanitarian emergencies. Her responsibilities spanned disaster preparedness, emergency case management, relief coordination, and long-term recovery and resilience-building.

She is also a member of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC), further highlighting her active role in international humanitarian collaboration and emergency response leadership.
