Bay Klay Chit had to flee from the Burmese military at a very young age, and sought refuge in Umpium Refugee camp. He came to Australia in 2007 where he completed his studies. Bay Klay has returned to the Thai-Myanmar border three times, with The Hope Project’s young adult partner organisation, GenHope. Bay Klay is an emerging leader in his community and is a great advocate for his people living along the border.
Marry Thomas came to Australia from Umpium Refugee Camp in 2009. Since then she has returned to the Thai-Myanmar border five times. Marry is a leader of the GenHope organisation, and has just returned from a 6 week trip, visiting friends and family in camps, villages and towns on both sides of the border. Marry is heavily involved in advocacy work for her people and has trained in Youth Work.
David Home is the Development Coordinator for The Hope Project and is part of the GenHope team. He has travelled with The Hope Project and Genhope three times to the border region. He is trained in Youth Work and Community Development, having completed his Bachelors of International Development in 2016.
