Bernard Minn graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne before starting his career with KPMG Australia in 2013. He now works as a Manager in KPMG’s risk consulting practice where he works with Victorian State Government agencies to assess their organisational risks to develop and execute risk assurance reviews to support agencies strengthen process and controls to address risk exposures. In his work, Bernard works closely with Public Transport Victoria, the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, Victoria Legal Aid and the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust. Prior to commencing his tertiary studies and career in Australia, Bernard lived in Yangon, Myanmar where he finished his high school studies at the International School of Yangon.
Mary @ Htet Yamone Aung is a second-year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Applied Linguistics and minoring in Environmental Studies. Born and raised in Myanmar, her dream to study abroad was made possible when she was awarded the University of Melbourne Dean’s Award, Trinity College’s Scholarship and Prospect Burma’s grant. She actively participated in youth programs while she was in Myanmar. She Aiming to contribute back to her community, she is going back to Myanmar upon her graduation to work at Phaung Daw Oo Monastic Education High School where she finished her high school studies and where she worked as a Kindergarten teacher before leaving for Australia.
Kirsty Dempsey is a graduate of the Master of International Relations from the University of Melbourne. Kirsty has a strong passion for young people and experience working with young people in a variety of roles in Myanmar and Australia. She most recently led the Myanmar portfolio at Oaktree, a youth-led organisation based in Melbourne, including organising two trips to Myanmar to visit Oaktree’s peer partners.
A question and answer session will be conducted after the talk.
